Excellence in teaching, research and professional development are the goals we set at Dundee Law School. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise Dundee was one of only two law schools in the United Kingdom to achieve a 100% international standard classification, with half of our submissions being graded internationally excellent or world leading. In the last review of teaching Dundee was placed in the top rating by the Scottish Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency. The strength of our overall performance as a leading law school is reflected in our showing in national rankings; in the 2012 Times Good University Guide Dundee was placed 7th in the UK.
We are continually seeking to build on our success. Recent innovations include: the creation of the first dual qualifying LLB in Scots and English law, which will allow students to go onto professional legal training in either Scotland or England; a joint LLM in international commercial law with the University of Cergy-Pontoise in France which allows students to gain advanced instruction in issues of international commercial law from both common law and civil law perspectives and the establishment of a Centre of Freedom of Information as a joint venture between the Scottish Information Commissioner and ourselves which is intended to develop research into FOI issues, in particular modelling decision making and examining bureaucratic culture.
