Performance Centre

ise has built a substantial reputation for the delivery of sports science support across the sporting performance continuum from grass root to elite level.  We support many local, regional and age-group sporting initiatives as well as working with sports and athletes at the professional, World and Olympic class level.

Sports that we have provided support for include football, golf, curling, volleyball, swimming, athletics, ice-hockey and rugby to name but a few.  We have, though, developed a particular expertise in the delivery of support for golf and football.

For golf, clients include the individual professional and amateur golfers, The Scottish Ladies Golf Association, Lothian Boys Golf, The Scottish Institute of Sport Golf Programme and The Scottish Golf Union’s amateur men’s squads, from under-14 age group level through to senior squad level.  In addition, ise staff have been closely involved in the preparation of the men’s amateur squad for competing in the Eisenhower Championships (the World Championship of golf) in Malaysia 2002 and Puerto Rico, 2004 and staff have accompanied these players at international training and competition camps.

In football, ise Director, Brian Ewing has been influential in the development of Scottish football through his significant involvement with the Scottish Football Association (SFA) as a sports scientist, an education course leader and as an assistant national age-group coach and was appointed as 'Sports Scientist' to the Scotland National Team in 2008. Again ise has and continues to provide sports science support to regional football programmes, the Scottish Football Association and numerous professional clubs.

In addition to golf and football, other major clients include the Scottish Institute of Sport and the Tayside and Fife Institute of Sport and these links with performance sport resulted in staff having strong involvement in the women’s curling Olympic gold medal programme, 2002.
