there are many activities for seniors here at ise, with access to exercise, sport, swimming, the gym. look out for all the events we have going on throughout 2012. you can also download our timetable.

exercise classes

seniors coreball class
a new pilates based class on the ball. this class will focus on developing muscular strength, tone and balance. a fun and effective workout worth a try.

seniors dance exercise class
this exercise to music class is a low-impact choreographed session. the 45 min fun class is of moderate aerobic intensity and will develop cardiovascular fitness, improve coordination and balance. come along and enjoy the sounds of the sixties and sway to swing classics!

seniors gym class
this 45min gym class is designed to support your individualised gym programme and will encourage members to get the most out of ise’s gym. the gym class will be delivered by a qualified gym instructor and will focus on both cardiovascular and strength exercises. if you need guidance and motivation to exercise in the gym, this is the class for you.

senior circuits
this class is designed to exercise heart and lungs, maintain muscular strength and improve balance. the circuit format is structured to allow people to work at their own pace. the teacher will deliver a moderate intensity class that is structured, safe and effective but most of all fun!

seniors yoga
this class focuses on relaxation, flexibility and improving mobility and balance. yoga poses and techniques are modified to allow those who are less flexible to participate. this class is a very popular session so book early to avoid disappointment.

aquanastics
this exercise session in the pool is a fun and effective way to exercise the heart, lungs and muscles – so a great all-round workout. the buoyancy of the water is fantastic for those with limited mobility or joint discomfort on impact. non-swimmers are welcome.

classes are great fun, as well as being good for you – what a bonus!  if there are other types of classes you would like to try, make sure you let Hazel know (contact details at the bottom of the page).

swimming

swimming is a great way to keep fit and mobile, so we hope you’ll agree our recently refurbished pool is just what you’re looking for.  a seniors membership not only gives you unlimited access to swimming, but also includes your access to aquanastic classes.

special gym programmes

as well as special seniors classes, we’ve got specially designed gym programmes for you too.  seniors  members get an induction for the gym, showing you how to use all the machines we recommend.  that way you can pop in whenever you like to exercise, at a time that suits you.  staff will always be on hand to answer questions if you have any.  and remember, with your membership you can use the gym as often as you like!

seniors sports mornings

as part of your membership, join in the sports mornings held as part of the active calendar.  meet your friends for a game of indoor bowls or short tennis. you can also try your hand at new skills and enjoy the fun and camaraderie of playing sport again! sports include: new age kurling, indoor bowls, indoor golf, badminton, short tennis and table tennis.

ise events

as part of your membership you can access events at ise.  throughout the year we’ll be organising educational talks, summer guided walks, taster health sessions, golf outings and much more.  plus, every year we organise a day out at the Scottish Universities Active Age Festival.  you can come along and try as many different sessions and events as you like.  they’re all great fun and designed just for you. keep your eyes peeled for more information about individual events.
