Home Hospitality

The University is linked to two excellent home hospitality and friendship schemes - VL Angus and Friends International Dundee.

Host members of these schemes are happy to extend a warm welcome to students and invite them into their homes. This is a great opportunity for you to experience local family life, enjoy British food, and make lasting friendships. Local families also value the chance to meet you and learn more about your country and culture.

The experience is highly recommended. Although these are free schemes, you would be required to pay any travel costs involved.


Would you like to visit a Scottish family in their home and make lasting friendships?

VL Angus members would like to invite you into their homes as a guest. Most of the members live in the countryside outside Dundee. They enjoy meeting international students and look forward to providing you with the experience of Scottish home life, and to promoting friendships across the world.

Initially you will be invited to visit your host family for a meal to get to know each other. Once you have met you can make your own future arrangements between yourselves, maybe to stay overnight or for a weekend.

The service is free of charge but you will need to make your own travel arrangements. Once the visit has been arranged, if for any reason you are unable to carry out the visit, you must inform your hosts as soon as possible, as they will be putting aside time and effort to prepare for your visit.

Friends International Dundee is a group of people living in Dundee who like to welcome international students. Meet them at the International Student Cafe, Saturday evenings at St Peter's Church, or visit our website.

VL Angus has been providing hospitality for overseas students for over 50 years. Since 1990 they have worked closely with the University of Dundee. They would like to expand the Hospitality Scheme but to do this they need to recruit more hosts.
