UoD WiFi - using Windows 7
Getting started ...
Before you use these instructions please change your password using the Password Management Portal, read the frequently asked questions page and ensure you are in a wireless zone.

How to configure your laptop
Step 1
- Select Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet
- Select Manage wireless networks from the left hand menu.
Step 2
- Select profile types
Step 3
- Select either:
- use all-user profiles only (recommended)
- Use all-user and per-user profiles
- Select Save
- Note: this is your choice, if you share your laptop with other users Use all-user and per-user profiles option is recommended.
Step 4
- Select add.
Step 5
- Select Manually create a network profile.
Step 6
- In the Network name field, enter UoD_WiFi
- In the Security type field, select WPA2-Enterprise
- The Encryption type should default to TKIP. Change to AES
- Leave the Security Key/Passphrase field blank.
- If you intend to share your laptop, select the circle (Radio Button) option, Save this network for me only
- Tick or untick the Start this connection automatically option. This is your choice, most people decide to tick this box.
- Select Next
Step 7
- Select UoD_WiFi network.
- The Successfully added UoD WiFi window should open.
- Select Change connection settings
Step 8
- Check that the connection tab information below reflects your own.
- Select OK.
Step 9
- Select the Security tab.
- Check that WPA2-Enterprise. and SAES are visible in the upper two boxes
- The lower box should show, Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Tick or untick the box, Remember my credentials for this connection each time I'm logged on
- Setting the box as unchecked is the more secure option, especially if the laptop is going to be used by more than one person, however, this means you will have to re-enter your details each time. If you are the only user you may prefer to tick this box.
- Select Settings

Step 10
- Tick the Validate server certificate box.
- Check the Add Trust certificate.
- In the lower part of this screen the Select Authentication Method should be showing Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
- Leave the Enable fast reconnect check box ticked.
- Leave the Enforce Network Access Protection check box unticked.
- Leave the Disconnect if server does not present cryptobinding TLV box unticked.
- Select Configure
Step 11
- Untick the box, Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).box.
- Select OK
- Select OK
- Select OK. This final selection will return you to the "Successfully added UoD WiFi" window
Step 12
- A ballon will appear in the bottom right of your screen.
- Select this to enter your login details.
Step 13
- Enter your standard University of Dundee username and password.
- You should now be connected to the UoD_WiFi network.
- Enter your password.
- Select OK.
