The University wishes to encourage and support an active community of societies and clubs, and so Student Societies and University Clubs can apply for their own web space in order to publicise their activities. However, societies must be either affiliated to the Students' Association or Sports Union or sponsored by a University college/school/department.
Much like web space for a department you need formal authorisation before this facility can be set up, or to take ownership of an existing site. The page author or "web administrator" becomes the contact for the web pages, and they must be careful what is published in this area - it should only relate to the society and it's activities - personal information should be published in personal web space. The homepage will also require a disclaimer, and pages must provide an indication of when they were last updated and a contact point. Read the Web Code of Practice for further details about acceptable use of the University's web site and computing facilities.
To apply for a web space for your Social Club, contact DUSA VP Communications who will arrange for your web site to be set up in Word Press.
To apply for web space for a Sports Union club, contact Sports Union President who will provide top websites for you in Word Press.
Inform the Vice President Communications or the Sports Union, and ICS Service Desk, Web Development when your site is finished and ready to be linked from the societies and clubs web pages.
