This document shows you how to connect to Sky to transfer your files, and provides step-by-step instructions for using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) and SAMBA.
For those who don't need comprehensive instructions:
Host: sky.dundee.ac.uk
IP address: 134.36.2.74
For SAMBA connections using Windows, the address is: \\sky.dundee.ac.uk\homes
For SAMBA connections using Mac OSX, the address is: smb://134.36.2.74/homes
University staff who would like to connect to Sky off campus can use the VPN (Virtual Private Network) service. Non-University staff should apply for an Associate User account first before they can use the VPN service.
Please note: We are moving to a new Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. This means that EXISTING users who wish to continue using the VPN service will have to change their settings. We plan to retire the existing service by Tuesday 21 August 2012 and users must change their settings by then. Guidance on how to do this is available here: http://www.dundee.ac.uk/ics/services/vpn/vpnsettings/. New users should continue to follow the installation instructions for Mac or Windows available in our VPN support pages: http://www.dundee.ac.uk/ics/services/vpn/
