Change required to VPN settings

We are moving to a new Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. This is required by Janet UK, who provides our network connection to the rest of the UK.

This means that EXISTING users who wish to continue using the VPN service will have to change their settings. We plan to retire the existing service by Tuesday 21 August and users must change their settings by then. New users should follow the VPN installation instructions.

Note: Apple Mac (Snow Leopard or above) users will not have to update their settings.

To change your settings:

Launch your VPN client as if you were about to connect to the university’s VPN service
In the VPN connection window, right click on the “UOD VPN Connection” entry
Select Modify from the drop down box
Delete the dotted decimal number 194.81.114.238 (IP address) in the box marked host
Enter the name vpn.dundee.ac.uk and click Save
Click on the Connect button
Enter your username and password when prompted
