What to do if you have a virus

Windows Users

You need to check and disinfect your computer as soon as possible.

Some viruses are designed to attack antivirus software especially in case where the antivirus software has not had time to update. In such cases we recommend McAfee's free Stinger tool (external website) Stinger is a stand-alone tool is used for the detection and removal of viruses only - not protection. We recommend that VirusScan is installed.

If you use Stinger, be sure to follow all the instructions provided. Please note that if you use WinME or WinXP, you will need to disable 'System Restore'.

Macintosh Users

Update your antivirus software and run a full scan on your Mac.

We recommend that the appropriate version of VirusScan for Macs is installed.
