Viruses are assigned risk levels which can change over a period of time. Some are considered more of a threat than others. This can be because a fix has not yet been released or the public have not yet had time to update their antivirus software or patch their operating system software and as a result are catching and spreading the virus quickly. The risk assessment level is lowered as the prevalence decreases.
