The University's Telephony Service is provided by ICS. We have now migrated most users to the University's new IP Telephony (IPT) system. This work is being managed through the Netcomms Project.
Our IPT system uses a Cisco Call Manager and the standard handset model on campus is a 7940.
The new system delivers many telephony features not previously available, such as voicemail (which can be accessed from the office or remotely), the ability to see missed calls and to see who's calling you. These features are similar to those found on a mobile phone.
The minimum level of service provided to staff is a working telephone for business use. In addition, the University switchboard receive and direct calls to the University and maintain internal telephone numbers. Emergency telephones for staff and students in residences and lift telephones are also part of the service.
Many enhanced services will be released into service in time and these will be updated to reflect this.
It is important to us that you get the most out of the services we provide. If you have an issue, question or complaint about this service please let us know. You can do this by completing our short feedback form.
