This facility is very easy to access. Simply visit https://mypassword.dundee.ac.uk.

What will happen when I log in?

When you first enter the Password Management Portal you will be taken straight to the "Answer Challenge Questions" page. These questions and answers will be used to challenge you if you forget your password and try to reset it using the portal. Here you should answer all the "Admin-Defined Questions" and create and answer a "User-Defined Question". Please try to enter answers that are unlikely to be guessed.

Yes. You can connect to the Password Management Portal from any internet-connected computer.

You will then be prompted to enter your username and answer 4 of your 5 "Challenge Questions". On successfully completing this you will be able to enter a setup a new password.

If you haven't already used the Password Management Portal then you will need to contact the local IT Support staff or ICS Service Desk who will reset your password for you.

What if I don't register any answers in the portal?

If you don't successfully submit your "Answer Challenge Questions" then you won't be able to use this service to reset your password in the event you forget it. You can still use this service to change your password as long as you know your current password.

Can I still change my password in other ways, for example, using the Ctrl, Alt, Delete screen on an IT suite PC?

Yes. There is no change to other methods of changing your standard University of Dundee password. This is an additional service that allows you to change your password easily, especially when you forget it and removes the need to call or visit the University to do this.

I am worried about the security of my account. Should I be using this service?

If you are worried about the security of your account or that your account may be used to gain access to sensitive data please avoid using this online facility.

This facilitity cannot be used to reset you password if you haven't registered any answers to the challenge questions. You can of course use the portal to change your current password whether you have registered your answers to the challenge questions or not.

Why do I get the error 'Error: Could not complete request.

Challenge Questions authentication unsuccessful' when saving
challenge answers using the Safari web browser on a Macintosh?

The Safari web browser doesn't support some of the scripting used for setting challenge answers within the portal. You can however still use Safari to reset your password within the portal.

Challenge response answers can be set from a Macintosh using the Firefox web browser.
