eDirectory IT Accounts for visitors FAQs

What is a visitor account and what will it give me access to?

Visitor accounts provide temporary access to University of Dundee computing facilities.

  • Each visitor account is given a username and password for use with standard University Desktop PCs in IT suites, lecture theatres, teaching rooms and offices and 10MB storage limit of temporary disk space.
  • Visitor accounts can be used to access UoD WiFi

How do I get a visitor account?

  • These temporary accounts can only be issued at the request of University staff.  Students may not apply.
  • The account details are sent by email to University staff, who are then responsible for issuing the login details to the visitor.
  • One visitor account can be used by one person only. Multiple users per account will breach the University rules and regulations.

How long does a visitor account last for?

The ICS Service Desk can issue visitor accounts for up to one month.
