Training course and tutorials
The project team have created on online training and tutorial material. The guides demonstrate how to use the equipment to make alternative formats. Several Staff development course are also running throughout the year.

Project Introduction
The project will research and develop technology to
enable the University to convert and produce material for print
disabled people. The project will investigate the most efficient way to
convert electronic and printed material into alternative formats such
as :
- Accessible electronic copies of material
- Large and small print documents.
- Synthetic voice audio files.
- Daisy Books
- Braille documentation of a non-critical nature.
Material can then be provided to
print disabled people.
The project aims to
- Define and setup relevant equipment and software.
- Identify a set of core operators.
- Develop training material and self-help user guides.
- Evaluate the feasibility in terms
of sustainability, cost effectiveness and practicalities of
establishing an in-house service.
Who are Print Impaired Users ?
Print impaired refers to anyone who has a problem accessing
printed paper. This includes Blind, Partially Sighted, people with
cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia and Physical Disabilities.
