A guide to using this website
Navigating round this site
To help you navigate round our site we have used a consistent, high-level structure which is displayed just under the picture banner at the top of the page - this is called the first level navigation. No matter where you are in this site this will not change.
As our site is so large some sections have a second level navigation, found just under the first level navigation bar. Where a subsection of the site, for example a service or project, has considerable information a left hand navigation bar will appear to guide you round that part of this site.
Using A-Zs
We have several A-Zs that list useful information such as the A-Z of Services and Staff Handbook. To help you find what you are looking for more easily we have set up our A-Z pages using Java Script. This means that you can view a section at a time or chose the full listing option to view the whole list at the same time. If you don't have Java Script enabled the full listing will be displayed. As this is a new approach to our A-Zs we especially welcome your feedback using our website feedback form.

Accessibility
We want our information to be accessible to as many of our customers as possible. The site aims to meet World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) AA-level standard. You can read more about these standards at the world wide web consortium website.
The University has an Accessibility Statement for it's website in general.
Restricted areas
In the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act 2002 we have made as much of our information as possible freely available on our site. There are certain instances where this is not possible. For example where we allow our staff or student to download software licenced only to them under current licensing agreements or where there may be data protection issues.
If you find a page or document that you would like to submit an access request for please refer to the University's Publication Scheme.
Key to access restrictions
These restricted areas are protected using the University's intranet, called SOMIS. There are three levels of access that we can apply. We always try to use the least restrictive. These keys should always be displayed where there is a restriction.
Access allowed within the Dundee campus (all staff and matriculated students using a University networked computer)
and can be accessed off campus
Access allowed to specific users (username and password required)
Access allowed to staff only. Requires login to SOMIS (can be accessed off-campus as well)
Send us your feedback
As this is a new site we would especially welcome your feedback. You can do this by using our online website feedback form.
