Discover to Inspire: Youth Actions on the Millennium Development Goals

Discover to Inspire

Inspired and led by the Humanities Student President for 2011/12 Anna Dimitrova, and with the support of the School and DUSA, a conference was organised and held by a group of volunteer students in May 2012.  The 'Discover to Inspire: Youth Actions on the Millennium Development goals' conference was sponsored by the European Youth in Action Fund, and it brought together nearly 100 young people from Europe and countries like Shri Lanka, Indonesia, and USA. Talks were delivered by United Nations Association Edinburgh, Save the Children Foundation, Tutu Foundation, the Honorary German Consul to UK and several leaders of youth development and sustainability projects. As a result of their discussion sessions and the lectures they attended, a booklet was produced on how young people can get engaged with the Millennium Development Goals.

If you are interested in the Discover to Inspire initiative, and the students' plans to hold another event this year, join the group in facebook or visit the official website:

The event was very successful and as a result sparked the interest of the United Nations Association in the UK and they initiated the opening of a Dundee branch. Everyone interested in UN politics and initiatives is welcome to become a member, all details on how to do that will be circulated after the branch is formally established in the beginning of September.
