AHRI Visiting Research Fellowships 2010-11

After careful consideration of over 36 applicants, the School is delighted to announce that Dr. Karen Brown (UCD) and Ass. Prof. Emanuela Bianchi (University of North Carolina) have been appointed as AHRI Fellows to the School of Humanities for Semester 2 in 2010/2011. Dr. Brown is a Word and Image specialist and Ass. Prof. Bianchi is a specialist in Ancient Thought and Feminist Theory. In addition to assisting various research initiatives within the School, both will be making a lecture presentation to our community in the Spring.  Our thanks go out to everyone who applied for the fellowships and we wish you well for the future.

The Arts and Humanities Research Institute serves as a forum for research activities across the School of Humanities' principal disciplines: English Literature & Creative Writing, History, Philosophy & Aesthetics, and Politics. The Institute offers two Visiting Research Fellowships for one semester, tenable in either semester one or two 2010-2011. The Fellowship is open to postdoctoral researchers or established academics in the Humanities. It is intended to promote research activities within the School of Humanities. The Fellowship may be held in any of the areas of interest of the Institute. Priority will be given to applicants whose research topic enhances one or more of our current research themes.

General Conditions: In addition to undertaking research, Fellows will be expected to give two open lectures during the period of their tenure, and to participate in the overall research activities of the Institute. Office space would be provided and Fellows may be assigned small teaching duties in the programme to which the fellow would be attached.

Value of Fellowships: The Fellowships carry a stipend of £5000 each, tenable in semester one or two of session 2010-11.The amount of these payments is absolute and no additional costs will be paid.

Applications: There is no application form. Applications should be made by letter accompanied by an up to date Curriculum Vitae and a 500 word outline research proposal.
