If you are one of the 650 reserach staff employed at the University, we recommend that you bookmark these pages on our HR website. They provide information about the Research Concordat which is relevant to you and your career.
A UK-wide process, incorporating the QAA Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes and the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, enables institutions to gain the European Commission's 'HR excellence in research' badge, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.
The University has been recognised by the European Commission for its 'HR excellence in research'. Recognition is granted to universities within the European Union whose policies and processes demonstrate continued development of a working environment supporting research excellence and increasing focus and impact. Our current provision is contained within the Summary of Concordat activity.
As a holder of this award, the University will continue to participate in national and European evaluation and benchmarking exercises. The key document for us against which we shall measure progress is the Action Plan to Support the Implementation of the Concordat.
In response to news of the award to the University of Dundee, the Chair of the University Concordat Steering Group, Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow and Vice Principal and Head of College of Life Sciences, Professor Doreen Cantrell said 'Thanks go to the often unrecognised efforts of colleagues across the University in understanding and developing a work enivornment for our researchers who are key to our success. Great progress has been made in the support offered to develop their careers and skills. We shall continue to work hard to build on this progress and the award by the Commission is very welcomed indeed'.
