Childcare Vouchers

Childcare Vouchers

The University has in place a Childcare Voucher salary sacrifice scheme in conjunction with a company called Sodexo Pass Ltd (who provide SayCare (Childcare) Vouchers) https://www.SayCareVouchers.co.uk. Further information about this scheme together with the various forms associated with the scheme can be downloaded.

Alternatively, if you prefer, hard copies can be sent to you by Human Resources at your request and by contacting ext. 84015.

Update - Child Care Vouchers are changing from 6 April 2011

From 6 April 2011 if you are a higher rate tax payer you will be restricted to taking a maximum of £28 in chilcare vouchers per week and additional rate tax payers will be restricted to £22 per week.

The changes will only affect you if you join the University's Childcare Voucher scheme on or after 6 April 2011 and you are a higher rate tax payer. Parents that are already on a childcare voucher scheme are unaffected.

The changes are being made so that the amount of tax you save when you receive childcare vouchers is the same regardless of what rate of tax you pay on your employment income. At present if you are a higher earner you receive a greater amount of tax saving than those who pay tax at the basic rate.

If you join the childcare voucher scheme on or before 5th April 2011 you will not be affected by the changes. You will retain the current level of tax savings until you leave the University's scheme or are no longer eligible to participate - for example if your children no longer receive qualifying childcare.

To join the scheme complete the application form and return to your College/HR Department.

Once you are satisfied that you would like to join, you should complete the application form in full and sign. You should return the completed form to Human Resources.

Your form should be received by Human Resources by the first day of the month for you to be accepted on that month's order. If your form is late then you will not be able to join until the following month. You will receive access to your ordered childcare vouchers amount on the last working day of the following month.

When your form has been received you will be sent an email inviting you to jointhe Childcare Voucher Scheme from Sodexo Pass Customer Care entitled 'Welcome to SayCare Pass'. The email will include a link to the Sodexo website where you can register for the Scheme.

If your carer is not registered with Sodexo, you will need to invite them to register and they will need to complete a registration form to be posted or faxed to Sodexo.

Lifestyle Change including Leaving the Scheme

During the course of the scheme's operation, you may experience a 'lifestyle change', which is broadly defined as any significant change in your employment situation or childcare requirements. Should this occur and you need to leave the scheme or significantly increase or reduce your voucher amount, you should make the necessary adjustments to your account. This constitutes a further contractual change to your terms and conditions of employment and your remuneration package will be restructured accordingly.
