Drs
Watson, Goudie & Russell Tel: 01382 667408, Fax: 01382 644807 Practice Profile Dr.A. D. Watson MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG Dr.B. M. Goudie MBCHB, MD. FRCP, MRCGP Dr. D. W. Russell MBChB, MRCGP, DRCOG We are a well established training practice with a keen interest in teaching. We aim to provide comprehensive Primary Care services from a small and well-equipped health centre, adjacent to Ninewells Hospital. We provide a full range of general medical, maternity, contraceptive, minor surgical, health screening and child surveillance services. We employ a Practice Manager, five clerical/secretarial staff and three practice nurses. In addition we have an attached team of two Health Visitors and two District Nurses. There is very much a "blurring" of boundaries between the different nurse groups to ensure a comprehensive and uniform care to patients within the practice The nurses are crucial in the support of chronic disease management in the practice which is highly developed and firmly based on current clinical evidence The practice is computerised and operates well-organised, summarised records. Information technology is continuously developed within the practice. We have recently been linked to the NHS net with consequent access to the medical literature Individual partners within the practice have special interests in cardiovascular medicine, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology and family planning. We have research interests in the Primary Care aspects of hypertension, anti-coagulant therapy, gastroenterology and screening of the elderly. We welcome G.P. Registrars and medical students and try to ensure that they feel part of the practice team whilst they are with us. We offer a structured educational programme with an emphasis on direct patient contact. Students are given the opportunity to consult on a one to one basis and work with all members of the Primary Care Team including Community Pharmacy and Chiropody during their attachment. We aim to provide students with an opportunity to broaden their clinical experience in a supportive and informal general practice setting. EMAIL ADDRESS: awatson@westgate2.tayside.scot.nhs.uk
