Glover
Street
Medical Centre Drs.
Reid, McLeod, Shepherd,
Details of Practice Our
Practice in Glover Street is long established with a forward thinking
attitude and has been involved in training for nearly 40 years (that is
not necessarily a bad thing!). The list size is 9300 and we have six Partners
working from two sites - modern purpose-built premises in Perth, and a
recently renovated branch Surgery in Methven, from which we also dispense.
The branch Surgery with dispensing provides an excellent additional experience
in rural medicine.
Partners Dr Ross
Reid - Trainer and Associate Adviser in Continuing Professional Development
at Tayside Centre for General Practice (not as boring as it sounds). Staff Mary Simpson - excellent
empathetic Practice Manager.
Carol Smith - Practice
Nurse Manager
In addition to the above, the Practice has a Social Work Department placement, Community Midwives, Practice Pharmacist, Health Visitors, Community Nurses all on site and visiting CPN's. All of the above are used to Registrar training and are an excellent resource. Training Year This is very learner centred and the practice Registrars have a good record in the MRCGP examination. There are 30 days study leave including attendance at Day Release, Child Health & Family Planning Courses, and Registrar Conferences. The timetable is tailored to suit the Registrar's skills and there tends to be pretty much constant feedback regarding the teaching and training throughout the year. One advantage we have in Glover Street is that there are two approved Trainers, which makes it more likely that the Registrar will relate at least to one of us! Summary The Practice has a good reputation for taking on new developments with good results in patient satisfaction surveys. Each Partner has a specific remit in relation to the new Contract and is keen to develop as much as possible. The Registrar here therefore has thorough, excellent preparation for a future in general practice within a supportive environment, and has good fun in the process.
