We would welcome a GP Registrar to join out friendly practice that has been involved in GP Training and Medical Undergraduate teaching for many years. Based in the attractive County Town of Forfar, this is a 7 partner practice consisting of 4 full time and 3 part-time partners. We enjoy the challenge of change and have recently moved into our new premises at Academy Street after being located at Green Street for 25 years.

The Practice
The practice is one of the largest in Tayside with approximately 10,600 patients. There is a full complement of practice and attached community health staff. The practice is fully computerised including an integrated computerised appointment system. The practice offers a wide range of services to patients. Chronic disease management clinics are held regularly for diabetic and asthmatic patients. The practice owns an ECG machine and a spirometer and is currently involved in a project with the local chest physician on the diagnosis and treatment of COPD. A full range of Health Promotion Clinics are available including cervical cytology, immunisation, well person, new patient and hypertension clinics. The health visitors run a Teen Clinic that offers support and advice both by appointment and on a drop-in basis to under 21 year olds. An Exercise on Prescription programme in conjunction with the local Leisure Centre has been introduced and initial response is encouraging.

Forfar Infirmary has a 24 hour Casualty Department and a medical unit with 16 beds. Responsibility for Casualty cover is shared on a rotational basis with the other two practices in Forfar. Each practice looks after its own patients in the GP Ward. There is a new Community Resource Centre at Whitehills Hospital due to open early in 2005. Out-of-Hours cover is by NHS 24.
