Background

With approval from the NES Directors, the nSPTC Operational Group have devised a series of workshops aimed at developing the educational provision and ethos of NES as the premier training organisation for NHS staff in Scotland.

Through our Educational Taster Workshops, we currently offer the opportunity for multi-disciplinary participation from both non-training and training practice staff - giving an insight into the work involved around the process of training doctors in practice. This programme focuses on enabling workshops to be more accessible to learners and teachers from other disciplines within medicine and professions out with doctors.

The global aim of this initiative is to further develop the skills and knowledge base of NHS staff in Scotland.

Funding is available in each region until 31st March 2009 and you should contact Gill Ward (01382 420034) in the first instance to enquire whether there is a workshop being held in your area.

What's on Offer?

We could not develop this rolling programme of events without the skill and expertise of our Lead Facilitators. They are responsible for the initial design and content of these important workshops, and are significant in recruiting like-minded facilitators to help out on the day (guest speakers are invitied along if more specialised information is required at any of the events).
If you are interested in getting involved on the planning and/or delivery side of our programme, you should contact Gill Ward (01382 420034) in the first instance.

What's the Cost?

NHS Education for Scotland have previously approved funding for attendance at all workshops above. Without this continued support, we may not be able to offer such a comprehensive programme.

However, if funding is to prevail, there will be no charge for attendance, although participants will have to negotiate any travel expenditure with local deanery offices - locum cover will
not be paid. If workshops are held over two days, it is usually the case that accommodation costs will be covered, although places are generally limited and early booking is recommended.

Application Process

Basic application forms are available to download and should be returned to Gill Ward as early as possible. Specific forms will be available once workshop dates and venues have been confirmed. Places are limited on ALL courses, and accommodation much more so....
