Geography Research rated first equal in Scotland

Geography at Dundee is delighted with the rating it has received in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise. These show that virtually all staff are contributing research judged to be of international excellence with much work considered to be world class. With 60% of research activity rated as internationally outstanding or excellent (RAE 3* and 4*), Geography and Environmental Studies was ranked first equal in Scotland with St Andrews in the 2008 RAE. This encouraging result reflects research strengths across the discipline. In part it also reflects the way during recent years that Dundee geographers and environmental scientists have led many highly significant interdisciplinary research programmes across the University of Dundee including the Scottish Institute of Policing Research and the UNESCO Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science.
