Sustainable Energy Planning (SEP) is an emerging concept and method for communities, cities and regions seeking to address reductions in climate change emissions and planning a transition to renewable energy generation and supply. The central aim of this research is to consider the thesis that there is a need for the development of policies and strategies that place energy planning at the core of the agenda to meet global and local sustainability objectives as well as the social and economic needs of citizens and their communities. In other words - a justice-led approach to making the transition to a decarbonised energy system can facilitate trans-generational sustainability and resilience.
