Ethics in fieldwork

Geography is required to ensure that all research projects including dissertations comply with current regulations for ethical approval as outlined in the University Non Clinical Ethics Committee's Code of Practice for Research on Human Participants and the University of Dundee Ethics and Research Governance Policy.

Any student undertaking research should fill in a Departmental Ethical Approval Form and get it signed off by Dr Alison Reeves (current geography representative of the Faculty Ethical Approval Committee).

Students must not begin their research until they have been officially approved and signed off otherwise disciplinary action may result. In complex cases involving particular methodologies, contact with animals, vulnerable populations or environments, you may be referred to the University's Non Clinical Ethics Committee before approval is given.
