What
is it?
A
Scottish Office initiative which can supply the materials (paper or
electronic), support and information needed to review and compare practice
asthma management with the BTS/SIGN guidelines.
Who
can take part?
All
health professionals from throughout Scotland who are interested in
reviewing their management of asthma will be given the opportunity to
take part in the initiative.
What
would you have to do?
Randomly
select thirty asthma patients from your practice asthma register (full
instruction is given).
Complete
a patient questionnaire using records for the previous 12 months.
Invite
the selected patients to attend for a clinical assessment of their asthma.
Provide
a few details about your practice structure.
What
do you get in return?
A
confidential and personalised audit critique comparing your practices
asthma management with recommended management.
Automatic
accreditation for Health Board Chronic Disease Management (Asthma) annual
audit requirements.
A
PGEA accredited education package (cost free) for up to 4 hours Service
Management, 8 hours Disease Management and 4 hours Health Promotion).
A
minimum of 16 study hours for PREP for participating nurses.
