Corporate Image Implementation - Fonts

The following typefaces are available:

  1. Palatino

    The University preferred serif typeface.

    Fonts are available in four weights:

    • Roman (normal)
    • Bold
    • Italic
    • Bold-Italic

  2. Univers

    The University preferred sans-serif typeface.

    Fonts are available in four weights:

    • Normal (55)
    • Bold (65)
    • Oblique (56)
    • Bold-Oblique (66)

  3. Dundee University

    A special font containing the University logo (black line version).

    This font can be used in most software by typing in any letter (a-z) then selecting the letter and changing the font to "Dundee University". The point size will need to be increased to suit document layout.

    Note that when documents using the logo font that are transferred to other systems then if the recipient system does not have the logo font installed then the character will display in the default font.

The font files should be saved or copied into the Fonts directory. Read the readme.txt for more information.

Please ensure that you follow the guidance in the Corporate Identity Manual [PDF version] which gives guidance on size and placement of the logo.

Please do NOT manipulate the logo other than to resize and place it. In particular, the logo must not be stretched, skewed, condensed, or individual elements altered.

The logo is made available for use in departmental production of reports, leaflets, etc.

The logo is not suitable for reproduction in large sizes nor where other forms such as colour or tonal are required. Assistance from Media Services should be obtained in these circumstances.

All pre-printed stationery should be obtained from DPM (Design Print and Marketing).

Licences

Palatino and Univers are typefaces owned by Linotype and sufficient licences have been purchased for the use of the Palatino and Univers fonts on all University owned PCs and Macintoshes.
This does NOT extend to personal or home PCs.

The Dundee University logo font is owned by the University. The University licences the font for use on University owned PCs/Macintoshes and PCs owned or used by members of staff.

The logo font should NOT be issued to external organisations or individuals without obtaining authorisation from Media Services or IT Services.
