Contra Plan

'Artists come in many guises, for example gardener, urban planner, events organiser and social worker. "What is it the artist wanted to say?"' Dr. Petra Lange-Berndt

Averbuch and McEwan, partners in AiA Art in Architecture, have used a variety of commissioned, self-instigated and collaborative projects dealing with place, environment, social conditions, and urban context, to engage communities in the urban design and planning process. AiA has recently completed JUMP: catalyst for change (Joined Up Master Planning), a community based planning project in response to the current Leith Docks Master Plan, Edinburgh
