Professor Irwin Mclean - University of Dundee: Eczema and skin disease - fixing faulty genes

If you suffer from eczema or one of many rare skin disorders you won't be surprised to learn that one in six visits to doctor surgeries involve a skin condition. However, the study of our skin is one of the most neglected areas of medical research.

This event hosts a talk from Professor Irwin McLean, whose lab has discovered many gene defects causing both common skin diseases such as eczema, and rare skin disorders such as the skin blistering condition epidermolysis bullosa. Irwin will outline recent advances in the understanding of skin conditions and the on-going efforts to develop better treatments.
