Why help?

A person recently diagnosed with diabetes faces huge health challenges. Helping that person cope with their diabetes, learning to live with and manage their disease are the many dedicated health professionals including their local GP, pharmacist, hospital clinic staff and dietician and diabetic eye van. Supporting those professionals, all working behind the scenes to improve patient care are the hospitals, ambulance services, epidemiologists, public health professionals, researchers and more.

The clinical care research for diabetes currently being undertaken at the University of Dundee plays a vital role in determining the most effective ways for all the players to collaborate, and bring all the data together to provide seamless medical care. Because of this, patients faced with a diagnosis of diabetes receive the outstanding care they need to help them deal with this frightening disease and its potentially devastating consequences.
