THANK YOUWard Walkers - proud supporter of the Monikie 10K What a success! As donations keep coming in, this was indeed the strongest, fastest, best race yet for the Diabetes Research Campaign. Along with our partner, Eventfull Management Ltd we wish to offer our sincerest thanks to all the athletes, their supporting families, friends, and race spectators for another outstanding record breaking attendance at just under 600! Winners one and all
Our first male and female athletes to charge across the finish line with incredible times were Roger van Gompel and Morgan Windram-Geddes. For our first ever inter-University team competition, the 'Estates and Buildings team' of Colin McNally, Les Morrison and George Gorman won the challenge. Finally, our most prestigious honour of all goes to athlete and supporter Maisie Harkins at the College of Life Sciences who not only finished at an impressive time, but became our Top Fundraising Champion of 2010 raising over £1.1K from colleagues, friends and family - all in the name of diabetes research. Image shows Maisie Harkins receiving her award from University Rector, Brian Cox. Have you been snapped?View our superb photo gallery brought to you by our sponsor at Frame Focus Capture Photography. Award winning photographer Shahbaz Majeed has captured the story behind the day by bringing exclusive event shots that you'll want to frame as your own. See it, feel it, love every moment of it... Our SponsorsWe could not have achieved this third annual Monikie 10K success were it not for the tremendous support given to us by our generous sponsors at Ward Walkers, ISE, Frame Focus Capture Photography, Sweat Shop, Angus Council, Monikie Country Park and HEAL physiotherapy and sports medicine centre. Our immense gratitude goes to them, not only for helping us to promote the race but for hosting the event, running stalls, supplying banners, providing race numbers and offering information on everything from diabetes research to advice on sports training/classes and physiotherapy. What's next?Keep checking back to see the latest events planned. In the meantime, we continue to accept your support and generous donations in order to reach our campaign goal of £3m, so that we can bring together world-class doctors and scientists to develop more effective drugs and improve patient care for diabetes sufferers. By helping to raise money for this important cause through events such as the Monikie 10K Race for Diabetes Research, together we can achieve research success and help stop the immense threat to health of those in Tayside, the UK and developed world from suffering diabetes. Donate today and help someone right now to benefit from this vital and life saving research. |
