She advises and supports the School Research Committee, procedures for research mentoring, submitting research funding bids, research staff recruitment and contracts and oversees administrative support for the Research Assessment Exercise.
Lyndsey is the first point of contact for external enquiries from current and intending research students. This includes advising on School research interests, application procedures, funding sources, admissions and registration, research methods training, equipment needs, and, monitoring and assessment procedures. Lyndsey also supports research programme staff, staff development (including the School Research Conference and research seminars), Research Group meetings, research ethics procedures, research conference travel/expenses, and other relevant matters.
The School has a dedicated Research Business Development Manager, who works with staff at all stages of development in proposing external funding bids.
John Gardner can be found in the College Office or by email at j.y.gardner@dundee.ac.uk.
The School BDM links with the central university service unit, Research and Innovation Services (RIS), which carries out the administration of research grants, contracts and technology transfer. http://www.dundee.ac.uk/research/
Advice is available to academic staff from a highly skilled team, on a broad range of financial, legal and commercial issues.
All applications for funding submitted by University staff must be approved by RIS with respect to financial details and terms and conditions. With that in mind, we encourage members of staff to discuss applications with Margaret at an early stage.
Margaret also organises Inter-School Research Conferences, designed to forge inter-disciplinary links and new research collaborations within the university.
