School Electronic Research Internal E-journal

The e-journal is a means of disseminating information about research within FESW. In it you will find articles, shorter papers and reviews written by colleagues within the faculty. In addition, there are sections containing news and information about other research matters of interest. No-one outside the faculty staff has access to it.

For contributors, particularly less experienced or beginning researchers, it allows them the opportunity to gain experience of academic writing and receive feedback on their work. Thus the e-journal is a 'stepping stone' on a journey towards publication in an established external peer-reviewed journal. For readers it is a convenient way of keeping themselves informed - about the work of their colleagues and about research issues more generally.

How can I access it?

The e-journal is located within Blackboard, the university's Virtual Learning Environment or VLE. For general information on Blackboard see http://www.dundee.ac.uk/learning/dol/ All staff and students of the University of Dundee have a Central University IT account that is managed by IT Services. Details are provided to staff when they start employment, and to students when they matriculate. The username for this account is your initials + surname and sometimes has to include an additional initial letter to avoid duplication. Your University email address will be the same but with dots after the initials, e.g.:

Name: John A B Smith
Computer Username: jabsmith
Email address: j.a.b.smith@dundee.ac.uk
Password: as provided

Staff and student accounts for the latest VLE (Blackboard 6.2) (https://my.dundee.ac.uk), also use the same computer Username and Password. If a password is changed, either by logging into a Novell based account (normally by using a Windows PC on campus) or by accessing the Blackboard 6.0 VLE and using the change password feature, then your password for the Windows PC, GroupWise email and the VLE systems will be changed. On your Blackboard My Dundee homepage https://my.dundee.ac.uk, once you have logged in via your username and password, on the right hand side of the page opposite the list of your modules you will find a box headed My Clubs, Societies and Groups.
