Parents in Education Research Network
PERN
With growing recognition of the importance of parents to children's learning, research about parents in education is growing rapidly.
The Parents in Education Research Network (PERN) is a network of individuals and organisations concerned with the promotion, dissemination and application of research about the participation and effects of parents, families and carers in the education of children - in the home, in the school, in the community and more widely.
PERN aims to:
- provide an exchange of information
- provide a forum for discussion
- encourage new research in the field (including collaborative research)
- publish selected findings
- promote the effective use of findings
- influence policy makers
- interact with other organisations concerned with research about Parents in Education
- work with European partners as the English language network affiliated to ERNAPE (the European Research Network About Parents in Education).
PERN offers a newsletter. Membership of PERN is free, and effected simply by subscribing to the electronic Newsletter "Parents in Education".
