Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education Research Network
Vision
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education Research Network has been established to provide a focus for excellence in research and innovation in this field within the Centre for Research and Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CRITAL) at the University of Dundee.
Aims
The STEM Education Research Network aims to:
- provide a focal point for building a critical mass of active researchers in STEM Education research within the University of Dundee and with local partners including Dundee Science Centre
- act as a catalyst for STEM Education research
- establish the network as an international centre for excellence for STEM Education research
- establish the STEM Education Research Network as an active partner in European Union research and innovation programmes
- enhance teaching and programme development by having a positive impact on scholarship in teaching and learning in STEM Education disciplines at the University of Dundee
Research Themes
The current research themes of the network are:
- Developing mathematical thinking in the primary classroom
- Science learning in formal education and informal contexts
- Mobile learning with handheld technologies
- Student-centred learning using interactive technologies in higher education
