Who is this programme for?

The Master of Education programme is a suite of postgraduate courses in professional development for teachers and professionals who work in an educational setting.

What is it about?

It is designed to develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, attributes and professional values necessary to enhance professional practice and aims to build upon the competences that you have developed throughout your working life.

A model of work-based inquiry and reflective practice provide a central foundation for the design of the modules.

The Master of Education programme provides flexible entry and exit routes at Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters Levels on the following named awards:

The programme is validated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland and is now recognised by the International Baccalaureate as meeting the professional development requirements of the IB advanced certificate in teaching and learning research.

How is it delivered?

Modules are led by experienced tutors, delivered through distance learning and supported by the use of information and communication technologies with optional local sessions.

The teaching and learning approaches used are designed to meet the needs of a variety of participants who are mainly in full time employment. They include:

Please note that the University of Dundee is to take part in an initiative funded by the Scottish Government to support increased Masters Level study for teachers based and registered in Scotland - find out more in our news announcement.
