
Sheila Henderson is Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education in the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education.
She gained the joint primary and secondary BEd at the University of Dundee in 1980 and taught mathematics in upper primary and secondary stages of international schools in Germany, Israel and South Africa. On returning to the UK in 1989 she worked in several secondary mathematics departments in Dundee and Angus, finally as Temporary Principal Teacher of Mathematics at Carnoustie High School. In 2004 she was seconded to the University of Dundee to help launch the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) programme and then in 2005 she joined the University as a permanent member of staff, teaching mathematics education on primary and secondary initial teacher education programmes.
Sheila is Project Manager for the Scottish Government funded project "Developing Mathematical Thinking in the Primary Classroom" (2010-12) with teachers from the neighbouring local authorities of Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross.
