
Mohd Mahzan Bin Awang is currently a PhD research student at the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education. He obtained his Bachelor in Malay Studies from the University of Malaya in 1999. He thereafter gained a Master's degree in Education from the National University of Malaysia. Mahzan has also a professional qualification in teaching from the Teacher Training College in Ipoh. He started his career as a lecturer at the Institute of Advertising and Communication Training. He, then, moved to Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College where, for eight years, he was in charge of lecturing and managing the Centre for Foundation Studies and Continuing Education. After this, Mahzan, joined the National University of Malaysia in which he lectured at the Faculty of Education before coming to Dundee to pursue his doctoral studies funded by both the Ministry of Higher Education and the National University of Malaysia.
Mahzan is conducting a research on teachers' strategies to promote positive behaviour in Malaysian urban secondary schools. His supervisors are Dr. Divya Jindal-Snape and Dr. Terry Barber. Mahzan spends his spare time with his family; he specially enjoys watching movies with his wife and children.
