Biography

Graham Williamson is a Senior Lecturer in Education, in the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education, University of Dundee.

Graham graduated from the University of Glasgow and qualified from Moray House College as a secondary teacher of English. After teaching in schools in Ayrshire and Edinburgh for twelve years, he joined Dundee College of Education in 1984. His work in teacher education, both primary and secondary, continued through the merger into Northern College and the later merger with University of Dundee in 2001.

In 2004 Graham led the introduction of a new Secondary teaching programme, making substantial use of the University's VLE. He was involved, as a secondee to the GTC, in the introduction of the Chartered Teacher programme. More recently, on secondment to the SQA from 2009 to 20012, Graham worked as a Qualifications Development Consultant in developing the new qualifications.

Graham's interests are in media and literacy education and in promoting the use of Scottish texts. These interests have featured in his contribution to publications and to work in teacher CPD.

Graham has represented colleagues in a range of fora, including at national level in a trade union context. His interests include reading, food and cinema.
