Glynis Gibbs joined the TQFE team in April 2008 as a part time teaching fellow. She still works in the FE sector and has taught a variety of business subjects at two colleges for the last 27 years. She currently works at Dundee College where she delivers a range of marketing units to HNC/D, undergraduate and post-graduate students.
She first became involved in staff development at the college 16 years ago when she was seconded half time to deliver a range of courses to all Dundee college staff. In 2001, she became involved with the university as she mentored the first group of TQFE candidates through their qualification with the university, a job that she has done now in each successive year. She was also heavily involved in the introduction of the PDA's in Initial Teacher Training that were introduced into the college in 2002.
She enjoys helping staff to achieve their qualifications and hopes to pass on the knowledge and skills that she has gained during her 27 years in the FE sector. She still enjoys experimenting with new techniques and has learnt a lot form observing other lecturers in their delivery, one of the bonuses of her job!
Prior to succumbing to teaching - her primary teacher apparently said that would be her career- she worked for 8 years as a restaurant manageress, before going back to post-graduate study with the intention of a career in personnel management. She never achieved this aim as at the end of her studies she was offered a part time job teaching YTS students at the then Kirkcaldy Tech and hasn't looked back since!
