
Carey Normand is Senior Lecturer in Education and Head of Learning and Teaching for the College of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Dundee.
Carey joined the University in August 2004 and in 2005 was appointed Director of the Teaching Qualification Further Education programme, a post she held until August 2010. Prior to this Carey worked in the College sector for 12 years and her final appointment was as Head of Faculty: Education, Social Care and Health Studies.
In 2007 Carey was appointed Head of Learning and Teaching for the College of Arts and Social Sciences and this strategic role has enabled her to shape the vision and direction for learning and teaching within the seven CASS academic Schools and the wider University.
Carey's research interests are in Learning and Teaching Theories, Leadership and Professionalism, with a particular focus on the Scottish educational context. Carey is currently completing her Doctor of Education degree and is examining conceptualisations of professionalism, professional identity and status for lecturers working in the College sector in Scotland.
Carey has represented the Teacher Education Institutions on the Professional Learning and Development Forum for Scotland for the last four years and has developed national qualifications, professional standards and training for lecturers and allied practitioners on behalf of the Scottish Government and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
As a member of the TQ(FE) team which developed and implemented TQFE-Tutor (an integrated tutoring communications system) in Session 2010-11, the team were successful in winning two University of Dundee awards:
