Brian Hudson

Biography

Brian Hudson is Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Research in the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education at the University of Dundee.

Initially he worked as a secondary school teacher of mathematics for fifteen years until moving into teacher education. He was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Funding Council of England in 2004. Prior to joining the University of Dundee he worked at Umeå University in Sweden as Professor in Educational Work for ICT and Learning, where he continues to work as a visiting professor. He is Chair of the Teacher Education Policy in Europe (TEPE) Network and Link Convenor for Network 27 on Didactics, Learning and Teaching of the European Educational Research Association (EERA). Brian is a member and trustee of the Council of the College of Teachers and Chair of the Publications Committee. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Curriculum Studies and Project Director for the Scottish Government funded project "Developing Mathematical Thinking in the Primary Classroom" (2009-12). He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) and represents SERA on the Council of the World Education Research Association (WERA).

Brian is a Fellow of The College of Teachers, the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and also of the Higher Education Academy.
