Student Leaves Her Mark on City Homeless Project

A Social Work student has left a lasting impression on a Dundee homeless project after completing her work placement.

Amanda Field (34) has helped to organise a complete renovation of the lounge of the Transform Community Development charity, a hostel for homeless people.

She received support from a number of local businesses, including B&Q and Tristar Oil and Gas, as well as a contribution from the Lord Provost's fund.

The revamped lounge, complete with pool table, television and games console, was officially opened at the end of August by Depute Provost Christina Roberts.

Thanking those who helped with the effort, Amanda said:

"It's the one room where everybody here can come together. The room hadn't been done up since 2001 so I thought it would be a nice thing to do. It's been great for the people who live here, who have helped out and learned skills that they can use in the future."
