The Third International Research Conference in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) entitled "Putting moments of vitality in the picture: evidence for relationship based interventions" was held at the University of Dundee on September 4th and 5th 2009. It provided the chance to explore the evidence base for VIG by bringing together researchers conducting cutting edge research on VIG with world-renowned scholars.
The conference also provided a forum for the latest research on the effectiveness of VIG. Top researchers from the Netherlands presented a recent meta-analysis of the effectiveness of VIG in families and new research with parents and young babies and fosters families with children experiencing attachment difficulties.
In all, the conference offered a broader reflection on relationship based interventions that focus on building on moments of vitality and created a chance to reflect on how subjects such as psychology relate to VIG and can enhance and enrich practice and future research.
