The Third International Research Conference in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) will be held at the University of Dundee on September 4th and 5th 2009. It will explore the evidence base for VIG by bringing together researchers conducting cutting edge research on VIG with world-renowned scholars whose academic work can enhance the understanding of why and how VIG works. It will be of great interest to academics and helping professionals such as psychologists, doctors, teachers, social workers and health visitors who want to develop their knowledge of how and why an intervention based on positive video-feedback can enhance relationship-based interventions.
The conference provides a forum for the latest research on the effectiveness of VIG. Top researchers from the Netherlands will present a recent meta-analysis of the effectiveness of VIG in families and new research with parents and young babies and fosters families with children experiencing attachment difficulties. A research team from Dundee and Portugal will present the voices of Dundee mothers who have turned their lives around while receiving VIG and give unique results of a detailed qualitative analysis on how VIG feedback develops over the course of the intervention.
The conference will also offer a broader reflection on relationship-based interventions that focus on building on moments of vitality. There will be presentations from international experts in the fields of positive psychology, neuroscience, newborn communication, and professional-parent encounters. These will offer participants a chance to reflect on how these relate to VIG and can enhance and enrich practice and future research.
