Environmental Targets
Energy and utilities
- Reduce energy usage by 2% per annum over the next five years
- Reduce water usage by 2% per annum over the next five years
- Use 100% recycled paper for all normal printing purposes
- Switch to double sided printers as and when office and study area printers are replaced, and introduce networked printers in office areas to replace personal desk-top printers
- Ensure that bins for paper recycling are placed throughout university office space
- Reduce paper purchases by 10% by end July 2009
- Establish recycling points across the city campus
Recycling
- From 2008 increase recycling by 5% per annum
Green travel
- Reduce the number of single occupancy car journeys by 5% by December 2008
- Switch to LPG or hybrid vehicle when current vehicle leases expire
Awareness
- Develop and implement a coherent awareness raising strategy to ensure that all members of the university community are aware of our environmental policy and objectives
- Make available general guidance to all staff and students on good environmental practice
Fair trade
- Complete submission for fair trade status for the entire city campus by the end of March 2008
