Car Parking General Information

Car parking facilities on the City Campus are available to all members of staff, subject to availability and the annual purchase of a permit. There are three types of permits :

An Annual Permit for the period from 01 October 2012 to 30 September 2013 which costs £360.00 or £432.00.

A Pay As You Go Permit which costs £5.00 and is also valid for the same period. The Pay As You Go Permit is used in conjunction with daily parking charges which are paid by telephoning 0203 046 0010 or online at https://www.myringgo.co.uk/login. The location number 12650 must be given. The Pay As You Go charges for 2012/2013 are: up to 2 hours for 90 pence; 2-5 hours for £1.80; and 5-9 hours for £2.70.

A Weekend Permit which costs £5.00 and is also valid for the same period.

Annual and Pay As You Go Permits will only be issued to students with an established medical need. Application forms for these permits are available from Tower Reception during matriculation week.

In the interests of pedestrian safety and to allow free movement of vehicles within the Campus and access to buildings in emergencies, it is important that car owners park only in authorised areas - See map of car parking areas. Maintenance of safe access routes for the visually impaired is a priority and parking on pavements is therefore strictly prohibited.

The Traffic Wardens are responsible for the supervision of all parking within the precinct and are empowered to inspect vehicles for the displaying of valid parking stickers. Failure to abide by the Parking Regulations may result in loss of permit, disciplinary action or prosecution. Frequent inspections are made of parking areas and vehicles not displaying a valid parking sticker will incur a charge of £30.00 per occasion. The co-operation of car park users is sought in making the scheme successful and of benefit to all concerned.

Visitors to the University may be issued with temporary parking permits free of charge by prior arrangement.

Car parking facilities are the responsibility of Estates and Buildings. However staff or visitors wishing to obtain visitor parking permits should contact the department arranging the visit.

Any general queries on car parking may be addressed to Estates Staff on the main campus internal telephone extension 84710.
