Erasmus Information for Outgoing Students

This information on these pages is for students already studying at the University of Dundee, who are considering spending a period of time at a European institution. If you are studying elsewhere, and wish to spend a period of time at the University of Dundee, please visit our Erasmus Incoming Students website.

What are your opportunities on the Erasmus programme?

Students at Dundee University may spend a study or work placement period in another participating EU country.

Is there any funding available?

Students receive a grant to help offset the 'mobility costs' of studying/working in another country, such as travel, language preparation and differences in the cost of living. This grant allocation varies from year to year.

Do you receive academic recognition?

Students receive full academic recognition for the study/work placement successfully carried out during their period abroad. Erasmus placements are structured in such a way as to allow you to progress with your degree programme not take "time out".

Who can undertake an Erasmus placement?

The programme is open to all students, UK, EU and International (undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level). Students can undertake a study or work placement from 2nd year onwards (with the exception of 1st year postgraduate students undertaking a work placement).

Is Erasmus only for language students?

Erasmus is not just for language students as the University of Dundee does have European partners in certain subject areas who teach in the English language.

During your Higher Education 'career' you may receive an Erasmus grant for each of these programmes (if eligible). The total duration of all grants may not exceed 24 months.

What are the benefits?

Undertaking an Erasmus study or work placement is a fantastic opportunity to progress with your University of Dundee degree programme whilst experiencing a different culture and living the "student life" in another European country. It is also the opportunity to add something different to your CV and make you stand out from the crowd!
