Student Stories : Noushin Khosravi
Noushin graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering from the Bahai Institute for Higher Education in Iran in 2009. She then worked for a Structural Engineering firm based in Iran before she began her MSc in Concrete Engineering and Environmental Management in 2011 with the University of Dundee.
Favourite parts of my course
I was extremely attracted to the unique combination of Concrete Engineering with Environmental Management. One of my favourite modules is the Research Method, during which supportive lecturers inject expert research knowledge, such as how to write proposals to reviewing literatures, which will be hugely beneficial in my future career. Extra tutorials in technical English writing are also provided which many international students find very useful.
My other favourite part of the course is my Research Project, during which I particularly enjoy the practical and experimental aspects. I am extremely impressed with the state-of-art research facilities, which provide a lot of hands-on experience in concrete technology.
Internationalism
The diverse student population in my class creates a stimulating learning experience with students from all over the globe. I am absolutely intrigued to learn about all the different cultures, the various reasons why they come here and what they wish to achieve from their time spent here at the University of Dundee. This is one of the many reasons why student life in Dundee is so enjoyable and exciting.
More specifically, I feel that international students receive a very warm welcome when they arrive, and everybody is very kind and helpful. We are well-supported and guided in many aspects of student life such as accommodation, in order for us to settle into our life in a foreign country. I have made some very good friends and feel very settled here in Dundee.
